An ambitious young couple has come up with an unusual plan to trade off with a tea light on a car, house, or dream wedding.
Jodie Hellyer (21) and Alex Easton (23) are inspired by ‘One red paperclip’, a website by Canadian blogger Kyle MacDonald, who traded for a house with a red paper clip.
The couple, who got engaged in December after dating since 2016, are keen to emulate their performance, Lincolnshire Live reports.
Jodie stated, “It can be exchanged for anything. At the moment we want to exchange the tea light for something that is worth more.
“Then we want to build it up further. Our ultimate goal is to get a car.
“It was done before by Kyle MacDonald. He went from a paper clip to a house in Canada. We wanted to make a spin-off of it. “

Jodie said Alex said they sat around and played on their PlayStation too often so they wanted to do this as a hobby.
“We were bored and wanted a project that would keep us going. We read about people who tried and thought we’d give it a try.
“A lot of people give away things for free on Facebook, so we could start with that. I’ve seen people promoting George Foreman grills so that would be a step up from the tea light.

“It took Kyle MacDonald 14 trades to get from a paper clip to a house, we think it might be a little harder these days because it was 2005.
“We believe we might need about 20 trades depending on how many people want to share our activities and trade with us.”

“Just a swamp type car, whether it’s used or whatever. But if this guy has a house then maybe we can get a new car.
“At the moment we’re saying we want a car, but it could really go further.
“If we get a car, we could go on trading, maybe even get a house.”
Jodie and Alex could even swap until they get a dream wedding, to which Jodie replied, “That would be good now”.
