The jet car’s first show since Richard Hammond’s Top Gear crash

A record car that once crashed by Richard Hammond will perform at a festival in Herefordshire this weekend.

Vampire, a jet-powered car that has held the UK land speed record since 2000, will be on display at the Bromyard Speed Festival’s Altitude with Attitude event on Saturday 1st August.

It is the first public appearance by Vampire since it was damaged in an accident while filming the TV show Top Gear in 2006, in which presenter Richard Hammond was seriously injured.

A celebration of automotive history, the Bromyard Speed Festival welcomes more than 140 road and racing vehicles, including vintage and motorcycles, racing cars and supercars.

The festival’s Altitude with Attitude event allows attendees to drive their vehicle up the historic Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb in the morning and afternoon. Both are non-competitive, non-timed and public displays.

The organizers of the festival have stated that no dogs other than assistance dogs are allowed at the event.
