After the heartbreak of a canceled romantic getaway, a couple’s trip to Brighton ended on a fairytale flash mob proposal.
Shiva Hart and Eve Given were due to fly to Portugal last weekend, but a move to the amber list meant plans were put on hold.
Little did Eve know that her partner had been planning the perfect marriage proposal for four years while on vacation.
But after a moment’s thought, Shiva planned an impromptu trip to Brighton – a place they both cared about.
“After Portugal was put on the amber list we had to change our plans at the last minute and since we both love Brighton we went there for a long weekend instead,” he said.
“Then I had the crazy idea of doing a flash mob.”
Shiva from Hastings said the couple would fly on his birthday – June 21st – to propose marriage on Eve’s birthday, June 26th.
But instead he asked the question on Saturday in Brighton – while a flash mob danced to the Snow Patrol chasing cars.
Shiva praised the power of social media after finding a group of dancers willing to perform on such short notice.
“I joined some local dance group sites on Facebook, which is not really my cup of tea, and asked if someone in Brighton could do this for me,” he said.
“Then a number of people got in touch afterwards, willing to share their videos of the proposal as well.”
After dinner at The Salt Room, Shiva carried out his plan and got down on his knees next to Kings Road Arches on Brighton’s seafront.
The incredible moment was captured with a crowd of 50+ people watching and cheering.
Eve from Crawley said the whole day was a “complete surprise”.
“When the song started playing, I thought it was strange because it was our song,” she said. “Then people started dancing.
“That was a great idea and a great way. It is surely something that I will never forget.
“At first I was embarrassed to know that people were watching, but it made it so special.”
The happy couple has yet to choose a date for their big day, but they hope it will be as magical as their marriage proposal.
