For the special wedding anniversary of a couple, the GUESTS were spoiled with a boat trip over Windermere.
Secondary school art teacher Lyndsay Allen and Hitachi automobile production manager Jamie Cryer said ‘yes’ on July 31 at the Cragwood Country House Hotel.
The couple met six years ago through a mutual friend who immediately caught on.
Four years later, the couple in love got engaged at the Regent Hotel in Ambleside after going up the Loughrigg Fell.
Ms. Allen-Cryer said, “As soon as we got in I put on my dressing gown and Jamie went to get something out of his pocket. I thought he was going to give me chocolate, but it turned out he was with a ring on one knee has fallen. ” .
“I had no idea and couldn’t believe it. He’s never been good at hiding things, so I was so shocked.”
Despite some planning complications due to the Covid pandemic, the two tied the knot this summer in front of 44 of their loved ones.
“Covid certainly made the planning a little more complicated and a little less fun,” said Ms. Allen-Cryer.
“It’s been a long time not knowing if it’s even possible. Fortunately, it didn’t rain that day.
“On the morning of the wedding, I had breakfast in my room with my two sisters, which felt really special.
“Then in the moments before the wedding, I only had my bridesmaid (my best friend) with me until my father arrived. Seeing my father’s smile as he walked in was a memory I hope I will never forget. ”
The newlyweds said that music played an “important” role on the wedding day.
Ms. Allen-Cryer said, “We spent hours before the big day making playlists of music for each section of the day.
“Music was very important to us on our day and we’re pretty sure we did a great job.
“Unfortunately, my grandpa died before the wedding, which was difficult for me because I was the last grandchild to get married and it will be his and my grandma’s 70 days, so she and my new sister-in-law were our witnesses.
“After the stunning wedding breakfast and speeches, we surprised all of our guests with a boat trip on Windermere, who all loved and made for great photos.
“Poor Jamie’s not very talented in the dance department so he really wanted to have a routine for it. We worked on it the week before the wedding until he was happy and everyone commented positively so it was worth the practice. ” . ”
The couple enjoyed two mini moons in the Cotswolds and York.
