Woman dies in traffic accident days before their wedding; leaves five children behind

A woman killed in a traffic accident on Highway 41 in Fresno on Monday left five children and a future husband.

The victim was identified as Brandi Urena, 42, by her family members.

At around 11:30 a.m. Monday, Urena’s sister said the victim stopped at the red light on Highway 41 and the Central Avenue intersection. She wanted to work as an employee of United Health.

A white Honda Insight driven by a 24-year-old man was driving fast down the freeway as he wiped the victim’s vehicle aside.

This caused an accident in which two other cars were involved. In addition to Urena, four other people were involved in the accident. They were left with minor injuries. Meanwhile, Urena was hospitalized but lost the battle for her life.

Urena was due to marry in the Fresno County courthouse days before the accident. A party and honeymoon had already been arranged.

“Very, very excited,” said Jennifer Nolan, Urena’s aunt. “Could get her her dress.”

Instead of celebrating her wedding, Urena’s loved ones got together on Tuesday to mourn her death.

“Planning a wedding, planning a celebration, and life and death stand in the way,” exclaimed Nolan. “That’s a shame.”

However, it remains vague whether the driver driving too fast will be held responsible for the accident. The victim’s family took the opportunity to ask people to take precautions when they hit the streets, ABC7 News reported.

“Please be present in what you are doing. Be careful what you do, ”Nolan pleaded. “Because this is unnecessary and difficult to recover from.”

A fundraising campaign to support the bereaved was launched through GoFundMe.
