BOSTON — Could gas stations become obsolete? As manufacturers make the switch to electric vehicles for lower carbon emissions, the state is looking to adapt with the times.
Grants totaling $13.1 million from the Massachusetts Electric Vehicle Incentive Program aim to bring electric vehicle fast-charging charging stations to 150 locations around the state, including several in Western Massachusetts.
Recipients announced by the state Department of Environmental Protection on Friday include municipalities, like the town of Amherst, which got $43,000, as well as private businesses.
