A bride’s journey to her newly planned wedding

After a tough year of planning postponed weddings, Indi Mountain and Alex Novelli are excited to finally tie the knot in a safe environment

Indi Mountain, 31, and Alex Novelli, 33, got engaged in 2018 while on vacation in Puglia, Italy. They’d been together for five years and met through friends, but the suggestion came “completely out of the blue,” says Indi.

However, when the pandemic struck, the prospective newlyweds had to desperately adjust their wedding plans, which were mixed up.

“I remember my godmother sending me a ton of wedding shoes to try on, so I literally tried on shoes while canceling my wedding. I think we refused very much. “

Fortunately, however, the venue was “amazingly supportive” and they were able to get a new date in July this year.

When the government announced its “Freedom Roadmap” in February, Indi said she was “nervous but hopeful” as their wedding fell after June 21.

Since announcing last Monday that the 30 person limit on weddings in England was lifted, Indi has been trying to sort out any changes.

“We decided not to postpone again. Whether six people could come, 30 or 170, we wanted to get married in July. “

They may have had to truncate their original wedding guest list to maintain social distance, but the couple plans to hold the wedding pretty much as planned.

“I know it will be a great day no matter what. I’m getting excited now. I had to unload some people, but everyone was so understanding. I had to tell my school friends that I don’t have to invite their partners, but they said, ‘Oh my god, we’re so looking forward to a girls weekend, that’s even better’!

“After I had my dress fitting, went out to lunch with my maid of honor and saw how much she was looking forward to organizing my fifth alternative hen party, I finally felt like a real bride.”

“We will be surrounded by the closest and best people in our lives, and it will still be great.

“It doesn’t matter how many people there are or what restrictions there are – I know it will be perfect.”
