Affordable electric cars launch from loveelectric, Edinburgh

HI and welcome to the AM Business Briefing, as the shortage of petrol stations in Scotland is “acute”, the Deputy Prime Minister admitted but insisted that the situation improve.

John Swinney spoke up when the British government put 150 military drivers on standby to deliver gasoline and diesel to the forecourt if necessary.

He stressed that the Scottish government is closely monitoring the situation, with a meeting of its resilience group due to meet on Wednesday afternoon.

In the city, the battle to buy the Morrisons supermarket will go to an auction process, the takeover board of the stock exchange has confirmed.

Private equity giants Fortress and Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (CD&R) will now have to submit formal bids in the first round of five starting this Saturday.

A result will be announced by Monday morning, although the process could also be suspended if either side says they won’t increase their current offers.

Also today, a Scottish entrepreneur is launching a program to make electric cars more affordable, which has just been announced.

Scottish company wants to bring affordable electric cars to the masses

A Scottish entrepreneur launches a new electric car program that “works as hard for the driver’s wallet as it does the environment”.

Loveelectric was founded by Scottish entrepreneur Steve Tigar, who was formerly CEO of Money Dashboard, the award-winning personal finance app, also headquartered in Edinburgh.

Mr. Tigar is a graduate of the University of St Andrews and has been awarded a scholarship to the prestigious Saltire Fellowship program, a government initiative designed to stimulate entrepreneurship in Scotland by sending its most promising leaders to America on an accelerated MBA-style course.

It is claimed that “loveelectric cut the cost of your dream electric car in half”.

For example, Jane, a higher rate taxpayer, makes £ 60,000 a year. She chooses a Tesla Model 3 with a lease term of 48 months and an agreed mileage of 5,000 miles. The standard lease rate would be £ 524 a month, but the Loveelectric lease rate and loss of wages bring the cost down to £ 267 a month – which is supposedly a “very affordable route to driving an electric car”.

Companies participating in the program can help their employees to drive away with everything from the Opel Corsa-e, Tesla, Renault Zoe, BMW i3, Hyundai Ioniq, Kia e-Niro, Honda e to a Porsche Taycan without a down payment additional costs for servicing, maintenance and puncture protection.

Any company that has been profitable for two years or more can register for free so that its employees can enjoy the benefits. Your new car can be for personal or business use.

Mr. Tigar said, “We want electric cars to become the norm and easily accessible for everyone.

“Scotland’s drivers now want electric cars and with the COP26 in Glasgow just around the corner it has become a big talking point. Switching to electric is one of the greatest ways to make a real difference and tackle the climate emergency.

“I believe organizations can be a force for good, which is why we are in the process of becoming a B Corp2. It’s about making a difference and we all need to make that difference now.

“We want to support all companies in helping their employees make the switch to electricity. Our Drive Change campaign aims to raise awareness of the difference between electric cars and gasoline and diesel vehicles. We aim to help thousands of employees transition over the next 18 months and together save them millions.

“In addition to the financial savings, the environmental benefits are priceless. Our app shows which emissions we are reducing and how much money we are saving together.

“Why wait until 2030? It’s time to switch now! Reducing our carbon tire footprint is the biggest way the average person can make a real difference. ”

Former pub that was once frequented by Rangers fans is due to be demolished

For the demolition of the former Annie Millers Public House in Glasgow city center and the construction of 18 serviced apartments, Mosaic Architecture + Design has received the building permit and the approval of the nature reserve.

The well-known inn, which was once frequented by fans of Rangers FC on match days, has been closed for several years and “is in poor condition with significant construction and rot problems,” said Mosaic.
