Barrow couple enjoy ‘dream’ outdoor wedding at the Dunes Hotel

A SMITTEN couple whose dream it was to marry outdoors have tied the knot in an ‘amazing’ day with loved ones.

Ellis Skyrme, 27, a nursery nurse from Barrow, and Jordan Robert Dutson, 27, a joiner from Barrow, have said ‘I do’ at The Dunes Hotel in Barrow.

The couple first met about eight years ago through their two best friends being together.

One thing led to another for the pair who had gone on a number of nights out together as a big group

“I thought Jordan was out of my league and didn’t think he would ever go for me but I was wrong thankfully,” Mrs Dutson said.

“Jordan said he liked my quirkiness at the time with short red hair and my crazy dress sense.”

The pair got engaged three years ago during a trip to Bowness.

Mrs Dutson said: “Our little girl was about 10 months old at the time and it was the first time away without her.

“We left her with our two best friends overnight.

“He got down on one knee when we checked into our room and then I got surprised when our best friend jumped out of the wardrobe behind and was recording the whole proposal.”

The couple got married on April 28 2022 at The Dunes Hotel in front of 60 people during the day and a further 60 for the evening do.

The couple was originally due to marry in July 2021 but postponed it due to Covid restrictions in place.

“The day was amazing from the start to the finish,” Mrs Dutson said.

“My dream was to get married outside and get that abroad feel to it, which I got.

“The sun was shining all day. We got married outside, then had Megan Doherty sing in the terrace after the ceremony.

“We went to the beach for our photos at Roanhead which was just magical and Eftal from Ladybirds photography just did amazing, I would recommend him to anybody, along with our videographer and good friend Matty Williamson.

“We then had our food and surprise ‘Singing Waiters’ which were just hilarious – everyone said they made the day.

“The speeches were emotional as always. Jordan surprised me by putting a little slideshow together at the end of his speech of our time as a couple and as parents, which was amazing and so touching.

“The night was a blur as we were both very drunk and up till 4.30am. Me and the guests ended up biting chunks out of the wedding cake so you can just imagine how messy it got.”

The newlyweds enjoyed a child-free break in Rhodes for their honeymoon.
