Community saves couple’s wedding anniversary after fire | Buckeye Country 94.3 WMRN-FM

Elizabeth and Jake Landuyt’s wedding anniversary in Mackinac Island, Michigan, a dream came true until a fire broke out and interrupted reception.

The bride’s father was delivering a speech during the reception when guests noticed that the cottage next to their wedding venue had caught fire. Everyone had to evacuate the area, and the newlyweds had to give up their reception. They began to pray for the health and safety of all. Fortunately, no one was injured and even the building was saved.

The couple even had their own angels save their wedding. The on-site chef ate all 120 meals and took them to safety in the seat next door. Then the food was served at a resort that had open function rooms. More Angels: There are no cars on Mackinac Island, so moving the wedding required the friendliness of strangers. A bellhop volunteered to be a bartender and a lady on the street carried flowers.

From the quick actions of the first responders to the friendly strangers, Elizabeth and Jake’s wedding was back in memorable moments in less than an hour. Jake told CBS News, “You literally raised the reception from the ashes, which made the wedding better than we could ever have imagined and which we don’t necessarily recommend, but it’s a day and an experience that we have will cherish forever. “
