Billionaire oil heiress Ivy Getty tied the knot in a lavish wedding in San Francisco this weekend, where fellow San Francisco native and current Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi was on hand to officiate the ceremony — and that was just the tip of the A-list wedding weekend iceberg.
The 26-year-old said ‘I do’ to photographer Tobias ‘Toby’ Engel at San Francisco’s City Hall in a custom John Galliano gown, surrounded by family members and friends including actress Anya Taylor-Joy.
In a new inteview with Vogue, Ivy has shared the incredible details of her multi-day nuptial celebrations, includng a British Invasion Mod Party at The Palace of Fine Arts on Thursday night with a DJ set by Mark Ronson and a performance by Earth Wind & Fire — to which she wore not one but three vintage designer dresses, by Emanuel Ungaro, Emilio Pucci, and Norman Norell.
That was followed by a picnic lunch on Friday, where she donned an Alexander McQueen gown, and a rehearsal dinner on Friday night.
Finally, on Saturday, November 6, she donned her besoke Galliano gown — covered in glittering mirror fragments — and recited vows in the historic Beaux-Arts City Hall building, where Pelosi pronounced them husband and wife.
Their marriage was celebrated with a party at Ivy’s home, Getty Mansion, and included yet another costume change for Ivy, performances by Pena Pachamama dancers, and several bars and buffets of food.

According to Vogue, the bridesmaids — 13 in all, including Taylor-Joy — wore Maison Martin Margiela Haute Couture by John Galliano dresses, and flower girls donned butterlfy wings.
The bride — who is the great-granddaughter of oil tycoon Jean Paul Getty and granddaughter of Gordon Peter Getty — had her makeup was done by Renny Vasquez, her hair by Bobby Eliot, and her nails — decorated with little butterflies — done by Mo Qin.
She also wore a dress by Galliano, which was made up of a a corset the color of Ivy’s skin tone, which was padded at the hips to make her waist look smaller. That was covered with tulle, which was then topped with mirror fragment dress wired together like jewelry.
Attendees were asked to put on their masks before Pelosi entered. She officiated as the groom recited his own vows and their dog, Blue Naomi Getty — a rescue she named after Blue Ivy Carter and Naomi Campbell, who wore a Christian Cohen x Max Cohen sweater — brought the rings.

Wedding guests — who also included Princess Olympia of Greece, Ivy’s cousin Nats Getty, her aunt Vanessa Getty, designer Wes Gordon, designer Mimi Wade, fashion editor Hamish Bowles, British TV host Fletcher Cowan, and filmmaker (and Kiernan Shipka’s boyfriend) Christian Coppola — then traveled via cars and shuttles to the home where Ivy grew up, Getty Mansion.
There, they partied surrounded by incredibly pricey decor and artwork, including paintings by Matisse and Degas, Russian chandeliers, and ‘museum-quality’ European antiques, according to Vogue.
‘When my beloved grandmother passed away, I knew I wanted to have the wedding in my house to honor her,’ Ivy said. ‘My grandmother interior designed each room of the house which allows me to feel as if she is there with me. I would be able to look around the room and see something that reminds me of her. Her presence is everywhere in that home. The theme of my entire wedding is the house and my grandmother.’
Ivy — now wearing another Maison Margiela outfit — went on to dance the night away, cut the cake with her husband, and toast her guests.
‘It was exciting to see the collision of rather grand San Francisco society and all the couple’s contemporaries — beautiful, free spirited rebels being their authentic selves in that amazingly operatic setting,’ Hamish Bowles told Vogue. ‘They were all astoundingly charming and engaged and engaging. It gave one hope for the future!’
He also noted that the part didn’t end until one in the morning.
Meanwhile, guests were asked to donate to charities including the Best Friends Animal Society in lieu of gifts.

Ivy certainly found her dress magical after months of planning with the designer himself.
‘My grandmother always wore John Galliano’s designs,’ Ivy told Vogue. ‘My grandmother always admired him so it felt as if she was there with me during all of this.’
Her grandmother likely would have worn Galliano’s designs for Givenchy, which he helmed from 1995 to 1996, and Christian Dior, which he became creative director of in October 1996. He was ousted from Dior in 2011 after video surfaced of him going on a drunken antisemitic tirade in Paris, saying ‘I love Hitler.’
Getty said that knowing how much her grandmother liked Galliano’s designs made it an easy choice.
‘After my grandmother’s passing — she was really more like a mother to me — I felt this connection to John. I knew I wanted him to create the dress for my wedding. My aunt Vanessa, who I am very close to, was connected to him through a friend, and here we are.’
They met for the first time over Zoom during the pandemic, and Ivy said they instantly clicked.
‘We just understood each other,’ Ivy says. ‘From growing up around his designs and knowing them so well, I felt like I already knew him, but this whole experience allowed me to get to know a new part of him.

‘The entire process was incredibly personal, which allowed us to get even closer. The feelings [that came along with] creating my wedding dress never got old, I am still pinching myself.’
Ivy was involved in the design process, putting together a mood board at Galliano’s request — but she insisted he should do whatever he wanted.
‘I had complete faith and trust in Galliano and his creative process. I knew I was in good hands,’ she said.
He did look to her mood board for inspiration, including nods to her late father and grandmother, who both died in 2020.
First, he included walnuts, which Ivy had put on her mood board because her grandmother had grown up on a walnut farm. He also included guitars, an homage to Ivy’s father, who was a musician.
‘Not physically having two of the most important people in my life with me on my wedding day is extremely hard, but through John’s vision and creativity, he was easily able to bring their presence to life,’ Ivy said.
Finally, the veil includes images of elephants, because Galliano had joked about them during the design process and Ivy wanted to have a ‘momento’ of the designer in the veil.
Ivy had three fittings with the gown, first in LA, then in Paris, then in London with her bridesmaids around.
‘Each fitting felt like a dream. I constantly had to remind myself this was actually happening in real life,’ she said.
The newlywed is the daughter of the late John Gilbert Getty, who died of a fentanyl overdose coupled with heart complications in November 2020, and she is the great-granddaughter of oil tycoon Jean Paul Getty

On the big day, she added Louboutin heels and her sapphire engagement ring, which she got when her husband proposed during a three-day trip to Capri. Toby had picked a restaurant where they had a private table and popped the question as the sun was setting.
The ring, which had belonged to Toby’s grandmother, was customized to include Ivys grandmother’s diamonds.
‘It is the most unique piece of jewelry and so sentimental to me,’ Ivy told Vogue. ‘I can’t help but smile every time I look down and see it!’
Saturday night’s wedding was the main event, but the weekend was fillwed with fun for guests. At Thursday’s ’60s-themed party, guests showed up in dresses with loud prints, bright tights, and platform shoes.
The bride had three different looks for the night, starting with a vintage Emanuel Ungaro dress that had belonged to her grandmother, paired with with coral and diamond earrings from Stephen Russell. Toby, meanwhile, wore Ivy’s late father’s glasses.
She then changed into a vintage Emilio Pucci dress and D’Accori shoes, followed by a customized vintage Norman Norell from Happy Isles in L.A.

The party was a groovy one, with performance by DJ Mark Ronson and Earth Wind & Fire took the stage. Photos show an elaboratly-decorated dance hall and an outdoor rooftop deck overlooking the city.
‘A mod night to remember and 3 outfit changes later!’ Ivy wrote on Instagram.
For those who partied a bit too hard, IV drips were avialable at lunch at the Log Cabin on Presidio the next day, where the bride picked a McQueen gown from the v collection and teamed it with Christian Louboutin sandals, Stephen Russell antique earrings, Chloe sunglasses, and a clutch by Olympia Le Tan.
The final pre-wedding event included a rehearsal at city hall and a dinner at Quince restaurant, while the morning of the wedding was filled with a pajama party and the bridal party got ready.
The wedding weekend also included either a pre-wedding party or an after-party, in which guests wore ’60s-themed outfits

Ivy previously celebrated her engagement with a bachelorette party weekend at the Jackie O’ beach club in Mykonos in August.
The socialite embraced the bridal theme and was dressed in a white babydoll dress with puffy sleeves on a Medditerranean sea outing with her bridesmasids.
‘Thank you Vanessa Getty, Isabel Getty, Vanessa Waibel, Kerri Alison for the most amazing bachelorette ever,’ she wrote on Instagram. ‘@Jackieomykonos, thank you for being my favorite place ever and letting me dance on stage the whole night,’ she added in a shout out to the venue.
‘Ready to go home and sleep xx ps we barely took any pictures but that always means it was lots of fun.’
Photos showed an eventful evening of dancing, singing, and laughing.
While the bride-to-be was wearing a white dress, a veil and a white handbag, her four bridesmaids all donned matching pink shorts with white tops and bikinis.

The celebrations went on for the whole weekend, with the girls sharing snaps of them singing at a bar during the day as well as in a taxi.
As the night went on, it appears that Ivy’s fiancé joined her for the celebrations at the beach club. The two could be seen cuddling up to each other while singing during the event.
The Jackie O Beach club is a select venue located in Paradise Bay on the Greek island, which hosts drag shows and events all year round.
The stunning club, which has its own restaurant and hotel, offers gourmet food, cocktails and entertainment by the beach.
