Man shot, officer wounded, police cars set on fire at a wedding in an Arab city

Police and local residents broke out in the northern Arabian city of Bi’ina on Saturday after officials responded to reports of gunfire during a wedding in the area.

According to the police, shots were fired during the confrontation, seriously injuring a 31-year-old local resident. A 26-year-old officer was moderately injured by falling rocks from a building. Both were taken to a hospital in Nahariya by paramedics.

According to local statements, the 31-year-old was injured by gunshots by officials.

At least four other people were reported injured during the clash, a medical professional told Channel 12 News.

Police said clashes broke out after officials responded to reports of gunfire at celebrations in the city. Solemn gunshots are a common phenomenon at weddings in the Arab community.

Two police cars were set on fire during the confrontation. According to the police, other officers were on site.
