‘Music was booming’ – Gardai breaks off ‘huge’ wedding celebration

Gardai disbanded a large crowd of people celebrating a wedding in a house in violation of the Covid-19 rules.

Officials were called to the party’s venue on Monday at around 9:30 p.m. on the outskirts of Kilkenny after receiving complaints from members of the public.

Large numbers of cars were parked in front of the house near the ring road on the edge of town, and loud music could be heard across the property.

When Gardai arrived at the scene, they spotted a large group of people drinking and dancing around the house.

A Garda source told the Irish Post on Sunday that officials were trying to disperse the crowd.

They found the owner of the house who organized the party. He told gardaí that the gathering was for “a wedding celebration”.

The owner was instructed to turn off the music and everyone present was asked to leave the property. Gardaí confirmed that the owner had been given a fixed fine.
