A COUPLE walking down the aisle just nine days before weddings were banned across the country said “I’ll do” in front of loved ones.
Elizabeth Martin, 31, a teacher, and Ryan Patterson, 24, a carpenter at Fishwicks Ltd, tied the knot in a traditional ceremony surrounded by their closest friends and family.
The two, who live in Grange, first met at their local pub, The Keg & Kitchen, in 2015 while out and about with various groups of friends.
After three years of dating, the two took their relationship to the next step while visiting Windermere.
Mr. Patterson was preparing a picnic and asked his wife-to-be’s question after asking her son – and parents – for permission.
For his bachelorette party, Mr. Patterson went to Krakow, Poland for three nights with 15 of his closest friends.
While Mrs. Patterson played bowling and had dinner at the Soul Bowl in Morecambe, she went to Lancaster for drinks and stag and hen parties.
The couple officially tied the knot just before the coronavirus restrictions on weddings and other social events were in place.
They said “I do” in a traditional ceremony on March 14th at Cartmel Priory Church.
Mrs. Patterson put on an ivory dress with a long train and an embezzled top that she had bought from Simple Koko in Carlisle.
While the bridesmaids wore a long navy dress by Dorothy Perkins with a fur cape and shoes by Debenhams.
The flowers on the wedding day were antique roses, a range of blue flowers of various shades and leaves including delphinium, cornflower, and gypsophila, which were supplied by Grange Flower Service.
Ms. Patterson arrived at the church in a white Rolls Royce delivered by Dovecote Wedding Cars in Dalton.
The couple had their reception at the Netherwood Hotel with 70 guests during the day and another 140 at night.
The couple had a four tier wedding cake with a quilted ribbon and diamond pattern.
They enjoyed their first dance to Ed Sheeran’s Perfect before dancing to the music of the local band The Underdogs.
The couple said, “We loved every second, but if we had to choose one of our favorite moments we would say our first dance with all of our closest friends who are with us.”
The newlyweds should take their families on a family trip to Haven in Primrose Valley to book a honeymoon for the summer.
