Nurses win their dream wedding in the Eskmills Venue competition

A couple of HOSPITAL nurses are looking forward to their dream wedding next year after winning a competition launched by Eskmills Venue in Musselburgh.

Sarah Hunter and Greg Turner, who work at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, will celebrate their big day next February.

The competition, which attracted nearly 200 entrants, was launched by Hickory, the company that manages the Eskmills venue in its portfolio.

It was open to doctors at NHS Scotland Hospital and those involved in treating Covid-19 patients.

Sarah, a nurse who takes care of premature babies in the neonatal department, and Greg, who takes very poor care of patients in the acute ward, live together in Leith.

Sarah and Greg got engaged during a trip to Venice last March to celebrate Sarah’s 26th birthday.

As clinical staff for NHS Scotland, Sarah and Greg have felt the effects of increased emotional support for patients and families during the coronavirus crisis.

Sarah said: “Working during the Covid-19 pandemic was very difficult. It is amazing to find out that we were lucky enough to win this award and it really improved our mood.

“In addition to the challenges at work, we are personally affected by it. We passed ships at night due to our shift patterns, and we both missed our friends and family, too.

“Our friends and family are a big part of our lives. When we know we can look forward to it and all can be together in such a great place on our big day, we can look forward to something.”

The raffle gave entrants the chance to win an all inclusive wedding worth around £ 12,000 at the Eskmills venue. The wedding includes the exclusive use of the Eskmills Venue, a converted mill building on the riverside in Musselburgh, with 80 day guests and another 40 evening guests. Drinks, canapés and a three-course wedding dinner are included as well as photography and videography by Tony Marsh Photography, classic wedding car from Edinburgh Classic Wedding Cars, a wedding dress by Christina Rae, bagpiper from GD Bagpiping, kilt rental from 8 yards, stationery from 2Flux Stationery Studio, flowers from Liberty Blooms and a three-tier wedding cake from Truly Scrumptious.

Stephanie Stubbs, Vice President of Hickory, said, “Sarah and Greg are great examples of the amazing NHS frontline workers doing such incredible and selfless work during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We’re very excited for them and look forward to working with them to make plans for their big day at Eskmills Venue.”
