Ryan Reynolds’ production company is behind a hilarious match ad urging people to rendezvous after COVID so wedding singers can get their jobs back

Match dating app just released a new ad where real wedding singers beg people to “love back” so they can “get back to work” when you’ve seen it without knowing it was something has to do with Ryan Reynolds, you might still suspect it because the whole thing is extremely his TBH brand.

The ad is from Reynolds’ production company Maximum Effort, and really, no effort has been spared to make this really super fun commercial. The dating world was shaken to the core by the COVID-19 pandemic that left people locked in and detached for months, causing the wedding industry to all but grind to a standstill. Well, vaccines and falling case numbers have the US prepping for a hot Vax summer, and that means maybe some weddings in the future? That would be music to the ears of these wedding singers after a year of canceled events and a lack of revenue.

“This new song from @TauraStinson, @ShaneMcAnally and @PasekAndPaul will be repeated until further notice. I literally cried when I first heard about this incredible group of wedding singers, ”Reynolds gushed on Twitter.

During an appearance on Good Morning America to promote his new film, Hitman’s wife’s bodyguard Reynolds shared that the cast in the video were all real wedding singers, many of whom lost their appearances during the pandemic. “This is a piece about returning to love,” he tells GMA. “Maximum Effort, my company, we love bringing people together. 2020 brought people together in a different way. Now I’m trying to bring them together with an all-round great song. “

He also talked about his own distant memories of the dating world after being married to wife Blake Lively for nearly 10 years.

When asked if he remembers dates, he says, “I’m doing that because at least I was there with my wife,” he says. “The last date I had with someone who wasn’t with Blake was a double date where Blake was with someone else and I was on another date. We all drove together and a few months later she and I ended up on a train to Boston together and there the sparks flew and the rest is history. “

Lively promoted the hilarious ad on her own social media, but of course worked on some of the couple’s trademarks. “How do I find out my husband is in the game …” she quips. “This song but 😍🤯💀”

And how, is she not wrong? It might be a commercial, but the song is an absolute bop that will likely run through your head for the rest of the day. That’s basically the whole point of a commercial, so it looks like Reynolds’ project is a success.

This is not the first ad that Maximum Effort has produced for Match. You may remember a little vignette that was released last December about Satan himself finding love in the midst of the absolute hell landscape, which in 2020 was completely tuned to Taylor Swift’s “Love Story”. The slogan for the bit is: “A match made in hell is still a match.” Indeed.

Let’s all hope that even if Ryan Reynolds decides one day to quit acting (please don’t?) That his production company will keep putting out those amazing ads that somehow make it into a whole entertaining, funny, and surprisingly touching story in two minutes to be .
