But now he is slating the likely guest list for Simon’s wedding – and is threatening to hijack the stag party.
David said: “You know, he doesn’t have any real friends, so he’ll likely invite all his showbiz mates or people he’s worked with he hasn’t sacked.
“If I organized the stag party for him, I think I’d organize a night in a restaurant, a bit of entertainment, give Simon some laughs, maybe some cabaret.
“Then I’d get up and do a sort of performance about Simon to make him cringe.” I think I’d quite like David organizing my stag do. .

HE once seemed like the busiest man in the world, appearing on talent shows on both sides of the Atlantic while masterminding a string of music careers.
But Simon Cowell is taking things easier these days.

So it speaks volumes that he still gives up a huge chunk of his life to Britain’s Got Talent.
The show returns to ITV on Saturday at 8pm for its 15th series.
And no one could be more thrilled than Amanda Holden, who is also returning as part of the four-person judging panel alongside Simon, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams.
Amanda said: “We’re always grateful for the gig but this year, more than ever, we are happy to be back sat next to each other and be reunited.
“As human beings, we’re all in a different space now. I think Simon especially is really loving life and is prioritizing different things.
“He is finally reaping the benefits of 40-odd years of hard work in this industry.
“And he is in a place where he’s now doing stuff he wants to do rather than has to do. That’s made such a huge difference to him.
“Britain’s Got Talent has always been at the top of his list of things he wants to continue to be part of.”
But she admits his commitment to the show was probably tested a little . . . by sitting next to her during the lengthy audition process.
Often they were in each other’s company for ten hours a day, during which they chattered non-stop.
Amanda recalled: “He literally said, ‘You know when you’re good friends with someone that silence is actually a good thing’.
“I was like, ‘I know, I know’. But I never stopped talking!
“So I’m sure he was probably glad to get home at the end of the day.”
Perhaps we’ll be able to tell how weary Simon ended up when we watch the show this weekend.

ALESHA and the other judges gave Simon a right telling-off when he broke his wrist during auditions.
“We said to him, ‘It’s about time you forgot about the bike and did a bit more walking – because it’s not going well, is it?'” she said.
“But he loves his fast cars and bikes. That’s part of his character.”
WHO WAS ‘PERFECT’ AS HUGH?
THE latest season of BGT boasts what boss Simon called “the perfect audition”.
It links to movie musical The Greatest Showman, which Simon is a huge fan of.

He said: “This was about as close as you’re going to get to a perfect audition.
“I don’t want to reveal too much because I want it to be a surprise for the audience.
“I want them to experience what I did at the moment.
“You know nothing about what’s going to happen and learn their story on the day.”
Simon met the movie’s star, Hugh Jackman, and added: “It was just amazing to meet him. He is the nicest guy.
“I’m rarely starstruck but I was when I met him because I was such a fan of the movie.
“I don’t really like musicals but I think this was the best musical movie ever made.”
But it’s not too much of a spoiler to confirm Hugh is NOT the wannabe auditioning.
YOU’VE NOT BEEN FRAMED
BGT presenters Ant and Dec are back at their cheeky chappy best this season, playing a brilliant prank on the show’s judges.
David revealed: “They said to us, ‘Congratulations! We’ve got something – a special surprise for you to celebrate your ten years on BGT together’.

“They had this massive picture done by the four judges. We were quite moved by it.
“And then they played the good joke on us. It turned out to be a picture of four judges who’d previously done BGT, not us.
“So it was David Hasselhoff, Piers Morgan, Carmen Electra and Kelly Brook. To be fair, it was quite a good wind-up.”
But David is convinced that was just the tip of the iceberg.
He added: “I’m sure they’ve been doing stuff we still have no clue about and will only realize when we see the show go out.”
I think he’s probably right.
ALESHA’S A MATCH MAKER
JUDGE Alesha has revealed her embarrassment at turning up for work on Britain’s Got Talent wearing outfits that echo those of her fellow panelists.
She said: “The first day we showed up, I was in orange and Amanda was in yellow.

“So we were like oranges and lemons – I mean, completely coordinating without even trying.
“I always seem to do that with David as well.
“I’ll wear something in the live shows and then he always tends to have a similar-colour hankie in his breast pocket.
“There’s always just something coordinating and matching. But it’s a genuine fluke. We don’t plan anything.”
Don’t be surprised if David turns up in the exact same dress one day, Alesha . . .
