Station 19 Season 4 ends with betrayal and a wedding

[Warning: The following contains spoilers from the Station 19 Season 4 finale. Read at your own risk!]

Oh-oh, there’s some crazy drama going on at the Station 19 fire station. The final episode of season four mostly took place at the wedding of Maya (Danielle Savre) and Carina (Stefania Spampinato), while also looking back on a recent fire station call, in which eight people were trapped in a burning house.

An eight-year-old boy was the last to be rescued from the inferno and there were no more ambulances to take him to the hospital. Maya was told to wait for the next ambulance to arrive – in about eight minutes – but instead decided to use one of the fire trucks to get him to the hospital faster and save his life. The call did not go down well with supervisors, who were generally dissatisfied with Maya’s work as captain, encouraging their firefighters to go to protests and complaining of tensions between the Seattle fire department and police force.

Andy (Jaina Lee Ortiz) and Robert (Boris Kodjoe) were both questioned about the incident, but the incident chief who ordered Maya to wait for the AID car held Sullivan off for additional time to assess the situation ask. While assisting Station 19, Sullivan did not hesitate to offer himself as a possible captain replacement if the department decided Maya was no longer suitable for the job. His exact words were that the division could get a battalion chief “for the price of a captain”. Impressive. By the end of the episode, when Maya and Carina were dancing in their beautiful white dresses, the team knew that Maya was being “released from her duties”.

Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 are officially extended for the next season

It’s still unclear whether Sullivan will be the one to take her place, but he definitely helped ensure Maya was fired before a proper investigation was opened – and someone still has to tell the happy bride what happened. Oh, and if you think Andy is going to skip over not only with her best friend’s sabotage, but also with Robert being promoted to captain through her, think again. That marriage has been in very, very bad shape as Season 4 comes to an end.

Maya’s firing is obviously the headline, but it won’t be the only source of drama when Station 19 returns for Season 5. Dean finally got the nerve to tell Vic (Barrett Doss) that he loves her, but it was still too late. When he wanted to look for her to make the confession, he caught her hanging out with Theo (Carlos Miranda). So there will definitely be tension on this front if Dean has to show up at the train station together all the time. Fortunately, Maya and Carina’s wedding was really beautiful. Plus, Travis (Jay Hayden) gave Vic the reunion blessing and the courage to tell Emmett (Lachlan Buchanan) his feelings, and it went a lot better than Dean. Okay, we’re still very sorry for Dean – Sorry Dean.

The fire station is in a huge mess, but that’s how we like it in our Shondaland dramas. We can’t wait to see all of this gush out when Season 5 kicks off.

Station 19 returns on ABC in the next season.
