From the $ 28 million Rolls-Royce Boat Tail to the revival of the legendary Lamborghini Countach, these are the 10 best cars of 2021.
2021 was a spectacular year for cars. As in the previous year, this was also a time of profound change, evolution, but with a double dose of dynamism. We have seen constant highs, especially when it comes to electrification, because every major car manufacturer already has its blinkers that signal the turn towards the electric villa. As an annual ritual, we’re here to select 10 product launches that caught our attention this year. These are the 10 best cars of 2021, let’s get started.
Best cars in 2021: Maybach, Rolls-Royce, BMW, Lamborghini
Virgil Abloh x Mercedes-Benz ‘Project Maybach’

The death of Virgil Abloh was arguably the greatest loss for the current generation of fashion. In honor of the icon, Mercedes-Benz presented the “Project Maybach”, a joint concept with Abloh. This dystopian and at the same time futuristic idea was inspired by the idea “how you can explore nature in a Maybach in a unique luxury context” – a high Mercedes counterculture and yet so typical of Virgil Abloh. The car is an electrical exhibit and is most likely kept in a museum as it will be the last car Virgil worked on before he died.
Hyundai Grandeur Heritage Series concept

I know most automotive purists could argue with my decision to list this Hyundai, but tell me, when was the last time you saw a car brand restore an icon to its former glory in this way? ? Not a single contemporary change in sight and just like it left the store in 1986. As part of its Heritage series, Hyundai has revived its first luxury car, the Grandeur. This Men In Black ride is based on the brand’s retro-futurism idea. It’s electric inside but 100% true to its original ’80s shape on the outside.
Audi Skype concept

At some point in August 2021, I kept seeing Audi making headlines with its new ultra-futuristic rides. The first of three was the Skysphere. Sure, the car is designed for luxury grand tours, but also for fun. It is interesting that the wheelbase of the car can be adjusted with just one push of a button. Depending on the selected driving experience, you can stretch between 4.94 meters and 5.19 meters in length. The electric motor under the hood makes 623 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque. Fast, sensible and sexy. Hands down one of the best cars of 2021.
Hennessey Gift F5

What you see here, ladies and gentlemen, is arguably the fastest street-legal car in the world. There are three names that fight tirelessly, or well, run for the crown, for having built the fastest car man has ever seen – Bugatti, Koenigsegg and Hennessey. Currently, Hennessey has taken the lead. This 1817-horsepower super-speedster can reach a speed of 311 mph thanks to its turbocharged 6.6-liter V-8 named “Fury”. Everything about this car is designed for speed. Not glamor or prestige, but speed.
2022 Lamborghini Countach ‘LPI 800-4’

A Lamborghini Countach poster hung in every college dorm from the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s. There were many reasons why it was the car of its generation: first, it spearheaded the ’80s wedge aesthetic, it was the fastest car in the world (in its heyday), and it was a Hollywood icon. Earlier this year, Lamborghini celebrated the icon’s 50th birthday by reviving it with some modern tweaks. We have written in great detail about his debut, read it here.
Mercedes-Benz Maybach GLS 600

This is a regional introduction, relax, we know it made its debut in 2019. The Mercedes-Benz Maybach GLS 600 finally came to India in 2021 and we even drove a bit through the city. Only 50 of these reached the country and were all sold out prior to launch. Plus, a number of Bollywood stars possess this beauty. The Mercedes-Maybach GLS costs Rs 2.4 crore and is equipped with the brand’s first-class luxury equipment without compromising. Under the hood is an AMG V8 engine with an output of 410 kW. The SUV promises a sprint from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 210 km / h. Hands down one of the best cars of 2021.

Called the Rolls-Royce Boat Tail, this nearly six-meter-long grand tourer is an absolute treat for nautical enthusiasts and those who prefer a stylish weekend picnic by the lake. And yes, it’s the most expensive car in the new world. After the debut, it was rumored that Jay-Z and Beyonce ordered this $ 28 million land yacht. In case you are wondering why is it so expensive? We have an explanation.
Ferrari 296 GTB

The Ferrari 296 GTB will be their next flagship in 2022 after all deliveries of the F8 Tributo are completed. This makes the 296 the third hybrid Ferrari after the SF90 Stradale and the LaFerrari hypercar. The 296 GTB is powered by a bespoke 2996cc twin-turbo V6 engine that is good enough to produce 654 horsepower, which equates to 218 horsepower per liter, a record for a production car. The V6 engine is described as “the first six-cylinder engine that was installed in a street car with the badge of the prancing horse”.
BMW XM

At the 50th birthday party of the BMW M Division, Marcus Syring, Head of Design, declared that the brand wanted to do something “unexpected”. Hence the BMW XM Concept, a performance SUV that can generate the power of 750 German horses with a plug-in hybrid SUV. All of this tempered with cosmetic elements inspired by the M1 of the 1970s. It is also a chip on the “luxury performance SUV” table on which the Lamborghini Urus, the Mercedes AMG GLC / 63 and the upcoming Ferrari Purosangue are already taking their places.
Rimac refrigerator

After three years in development after its debut, the Rimac Nevera has finally hit production. Previously called the C_Two, this 1900-horsepower electric hypercar is capable of catapulting from 0 to 60 mph in just 1.85 seconds. Rimac is reluctant to reveal its top speed, but we expect it to hit 25 mph. Only 150 of these will be built, costing $ 2.4 million each.
