A bride became embroiled in controversy after a message she left at a campsite warned others about her wedding upset others who wanted to take advantage of the outdoor space.
Earlier this month, a photo of the unidentified bride’s note was posted on Reddit where the OP [original poster], who bears the username @wet_leaves, described her as “Bridezilla”.
“Bridezilla calls passive-aggressive dibs on a public area in my neighborhood where we all go for walks, drive and camp. No permit, no contact information, no toilets or trash cans and definitely not enough forest for an outbreak of over 50 people, ”read the caption along with a photo of the note.
The piece of paper tied to a tree at the Alaska campsite read: “Friday and Saturday, June 18th and 19th, we will have our wedding ceremony and reception. Please do not camp here! We have a whole guest list arriving for the weekend to celebrate. If you decide anyway, we’ll line up around you and do it anyway.
“Make sure you have a present and a meal for the grill. PS, this will be a weekend of loud music and late night. So when you are here expect us to be over 50. Thank you for your understanding.”
The passive-aggressive demand posted on the Reddit subreddit Wedding Shaming sparked a number of angry responses, many of which were dismayed by the woman’s claim.

However, according to an update released by the Reddit user, the neighborhood residents decided to take matters into their own hands by creating their own signs in response.
One of the laminated notes taped on the original and shared by the Reddit user read, “Hey, congratulations on your upcoming wedding, but your plan to entertain a lot of people and play ‘loud music’ for two days, will NOT work for the residents of this area.
“And where do you want to park all these cars? AND where will you go to the bathroom and clean up after you? WE ALL suggest that you move to another location ASAP where you won’t disturb our neighbors and if not, don’t be surprised the soldiers pay a visit because they WILL be called and cars will be towed at your place Expenditure.”
Another message posted in response to the bride warned the party of another event that would affect the wedding, with the newspaper informing them that “there is a teenage campout and family photo shoot this weekend” before the Wedding party was encouraged to “go away”. .
The backlash to the note eventually led to a response from the bride, according to the OP, who shared a screenshot of a Facebook status reportedly posted by the woman.
In the post she wrote: “I am the woman who celebrates the wedding. I definitely didn’t mean to offend the community. My sign was in an effort to distract punk kids trying to party. I can assure the community that we will not pose a disturbance or leave a mess.
The woman then described herself and her guests as “forever Alaskans” and “avid campers” before revealing that “in a million years she would never have thought the community would riot.”
According to the bride, she chose the area because it is “a beautiful public area that we love,” adding that she also planned to contact local soldiers in the morning to make sure they were aware of the event.
The bride-to-be also assured those who were upset by her notice that she and her wedding party would “leave the area better than they found it” before giving her contact details for anyone who was still affected.
In the Facebook post, the woman reiterated that she only posted the notice in the area because she was “afraid of drug addicts and party animals”.
“I apologize to anyone who has been insulted and provoked. I’ve learned my lesson and I’m very grateful that this community cares enough about their surroundings to be concerned, ”she continued. “I’m so sorry for all the confusion, we just want to enjoy our peaceful ceremony with our family.”
