Toyota C + Pod functions
The electric car is significantly underpowered in terms of raw power and other properties. It has a range of 150 kilometers and is powered by a 9.06 kWh lithium-ion battery. The top speed of the shell-like car is 60 kilometers per hour. It’s only 2,490 mm long, about half the length of a typical SUV, and 1,290 mm wide and 1,550 mm high. All dimensions are even smaller than the Tata Nano, which has already been discontinued. The C + pod also has a turning radius of 3.9 meters, which should make maneuvering the electric vehicle in the tightest of spaces child’s play.
Its charging inlet is located between the front LED headlights, and the entire exterior body is made of plastic. As for the interior, the C + pod’s interior cabin width is 1,100mm, and Toyota believes a driver and passenger can comfortably sit next to each other. The dashboard is a stark contrast of white and black, with the main speedometer display unit right in the middle. Directly below, a vertical stack holds the AC control switches.
In addition, according to Toyota, the C + pod can be charged to full capacity in about five hours from a special 200V / 16A socket, and about 16 hours from the standard 200V / 6A socket. Toyota also intends to expand its product offering by entering into open collaborations with local governments of various nations to develop new business models. The company is currently focusing its efforts on the C + pod and Toyota i-Road in Japan, with more than 200 corporate and local government partners actively involved in researching and developing innovative transportation concepts for the future mass production and availability of electric vehicles around the world .
