Guest leaves £150,000 Bentley supercar in Manchester Travelodge car park

We’ve all done it.

We’re in a hurry, trying to get out of the hotel room before check-out time, fumbling with bags, coats and keys – and then we forget something.

We usually leave behind a toothbrush or a phone charger.

However, one guest managed to leave something more valuable at a Travelodge last year – a £157,000 Bentley Continental GT supercar.

It’s just one of countless strange and wonderful items left behind at Travelodge hotels in Greater Manchester over the past 12 months.

Along with the Bentley, the guests left certificates for a chip shop, a model of Coronation Street and a throne chair.

That’s next to a big basket of Indian sweets and a premium Versace suit.

Fortunately, these items are rarely left behind – with the most popular forgotten items being chargers, cell phones or tablets, toiletry bags and teddy bears.

Hotel chain bosses attribute the amount of strange property lost to the boom in holidays in the UK due to the pandemic.

“In 2021, following Freedom Day, we welcomed millions of customers to our 582 UK Travelodge hotels, including our Manchester hotels, and saw a significant increase in bookings,” said Shakila Ahmed.

“This has resulted in a number of interesting items being left behind by our customers at our UK hotels.

“This year’s Lost & Found audit includes an increase in holiday-themed items, wedding props, treasured memorabilia, smart devices and beloved pets. These include a DJI Phantom 4 drone, a Pomsky named Beyoncé, a 5-foot wedding cake pinata, a Bentley convertible with GT V8, and even Cinderella’s shoe.

“When it comes down to why so many of our customers forget their valuable items, it’s basically because we’re all short on time, juggling multiple tasks and in a hurry to get from A to B. Valuable possessions are easily forgotten in a hurry.”
