Sutton Road in Southend ‘to stay closed for some time’ after motorbike and car in serious crash – recap

Essex Police have warned a busy road in Southend is likely to remain closed “for some time” following a serious collision.

Officers were called to Sutton Road in the resort town shortly after 6.40pm on Monday (January 31), after receiving reports of a collision involving a motorbike and a car.

Emergency services are at the scene and the road has been closed while officers deal with the incident.

Essex Police have asked any witnesses to the collision to contact the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101, citing incident 982 of January 31.

Warning of the closure on Twitter just after 9.30pm, police said: “We are at the scene of a serious collision in Southend.

“We were called at 6.40pm today to reports of a collision involving a motorbike and a car in Sutton Road. The road is closed and is likely to remain shut for some time. Witnesses to the collision should call 101.”
