The M25 was closed in both directions after an accident near Dartford Crossing.
The incident occurred at Exit 2 A2 (Darenth Interchange), near Dartford, A282 / M25, on the counterclockwise carriageway in Kent.
A car and two delivery vans were involved in the collision and all traffic was stopped when rescue workers were on site.
The traffic on the clockwise carriageway has now ceased and there is rubble across the highway. A bridge was also opened in the accident and is being examined for damage.
As a result, there are heavy traffic jams approaching Dartford Crossing from Kent to Essex.
