A man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a car hit several pedestrians on Blackpool promenade.
Police were called at 5:25 a.m. on Saturday to report that a red Peugeot had hit a small group of people near the North Pier.
The officers were present and the vehicle was tracked and later brought to a controlled stop on a residential street when the driver escaped from the scene.
A short time later, after a search of the area, a 30-year-old man from Manchester was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody.
The pedestrian gang also left the scene and it is not known exactly what their injuries are or whether they were hospitalized.
The police asked them to report.
Lancashire Police Department Insp Abi Finch-Hall said: “We want to make sure the pedestrians who have been hit by the vehicle are okay and ask them to contact us.
“Despite the early hour, there were several pedestrians in the area at the time of the incident.
“We assume that there are also witnesses with whom the police have not yet spoken.
“If you’ve been there, seen something, or thinks there is anything you can do to help at this point, please contact us to assist with our inquiries.”
