Genesis, Hyundai’s luxury arm, has released the first images of the GV60, its first dedicated platform-based electric vehicle.
The second Genesis brand electric car, GV60, is based on a special all-electric platform called E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform), which signals the brand’s path towards electrification.
Dominique Boesch, Managing Director of Genesis Motor Europe, said: “When we launched in Europe, we made a commitment to bring three electric cars to the region within our first year; We’re excited to announce that the GV60 will be our second electric car for Europe, shortly after the electrified G80 was launched.
“The GV60, the first on a dedicated Genesis electric platform, will offer a whole new experience as a luxury electric vehicle based on our unique brand identity and will also benefit from our unique customer-centric offering where service comes before sale.”
Full specifications, performance and European prices will be published in due course.
Genesis was first branded in South Korea and has turned its sights on Europe and China after successes in the US, Canada, Russia, the Middle East and Australia.
The brand starts its European market launch with the launch of the G80 electric sedan and promises to bring two more electric models onto the market within a year.
In other markets, the G80 sedan and GV80 SUV are offered with a range of gasoline engines. It has not been confirmed which powertrains will be offered when the vehicles arrive in the UK.
Genesis will operate a digital sales model, similar to Polestar, that relies on online sales rather than physical dealers.
A London branded store in Westfield Shopping will be the only physical retail presence when sales begin, with home or office delivery and pickup at the center of a Genesis Difference retail model.
Crucial to the brand experience will be the appointment of a Genesis personal assistant from the hospitality and retail sectors to manage every aspect of the buying and property experience.
