Man killed in car-to-car shootout on Lane Avenue, police say

JACKSONVILLE, Florida. – A man is dead after a shooting that police said took place around 2 a.m. on Lane Avenue.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, an argument broke out between people in the passage of a liquor store on Lane Avenue.

Then, according to police, three people drove into a car on Lane Avenue and another vehicle pulled up next to them. According to police, someone in the vehicle shot at the car and hit a passenger. As the police announced, both vehicles drove off.

According to JSO, the police calling for the shootings on Lane Avenue initially found no victims, but when a Florida Highway Patrol soldier pulled up a car on unpredictable driving near Collins Road near Interstate 295, the shot passenger found dead in the car. According to the police, the driver of the car was questioned.

According to News4Jax records, the death is the 88th Jacksonville murder so far this year.

This was the second Sunday morning shoot in Jacksonville. Later that morning, police said a man was critically injured in a shootout on the Northside.
