Search for missing children and stolen car in Blackburn North

Two young children are missing and a car was stolen in Blackburn North this morning, prompting police to launch a full search and seek help from the public.

Police said a man entered a property on Springfield Road this morning while a woman and her two children were at home and stole a black Mercedes Benz.

The vehicle with registration number BEQ 882 was seen on CCTV footage as it left the property at 8:45 a.m. It was last seen driving east up Springfield Road.

Police say they called for a social check-up on the property at 8:55 a.m. and the woman was found, but the two children – a girl aged five and a boy aged three – were missing.

Both children are described as Asian looking.

The man who entered the house is said to have dark skin and at the time was wearing a black hoodie and face mask.

The car was last seen on CCTV footage heading east on Springfield Road. (

A male resident of the address, who was probably not at home at the time of the incident, is also currently with the police.

Police are currently patrolling the area to find both the vehicle and the missing children.

The detectives are also asking anyone who was walking dashcam footage in the Blackburn North area from 8 a.m. this morning to look for any signs of the vehicle.

Anyone who sees the black Mercedes is encouraged to call 000 immediately.
