Investigation into attempted murder after a 34-year-old man was hit by a car paved on the Edinburgh sidewalk

The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Friday, August 27, on Restalrig Avenue near the intersection with Craigentinny Avenue.

A 34-year-old man was hit by a black Opel Corsa that had been standing on the sidewalk before leaving.

The man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment for his non-life threatening injuries later that evening.

Detective Inspector Jonny Wright of CID Gayfield said, “Our investigations so far indicate that the car was deliberately driven at the man and we are seeking more information on the matter.

“I would like to urge anyone who was in the area around 4:30 pm on Friday afternoon and may have observed the incident or have information related to the incident to contact us.

“I would also ask anyone who has seen a black Opel Corsa with collision damage since then to get in touch.

“Anyone with information can call 101 and quote the August 27 incident 4357, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
