Car thief tried to get an elevator or taxi after an accident in Bangor

A car thief may have tried to get a ride or a taxi after getting off a vehicle after an accident.

Police are asking for information after a silver Nissan Qashqai was stolen from Mackey Street in north Belfast between 3:00 p.m. on Saturday October 16 and at 12:30 this morning (Sunday October 17).

The vehicle was found abandoned after an accident around 12:50 p.m. on Rathgael Road in Bangor.

Police believe the suspect may have tried to get a lift or a taxi after the incident and are trying to find out if anyone was involved.

They ask anyone who has dashcam footage or has witnessed suspicious activity in the area to contact the non-emergency number 101.

Detective Sergeant Kitchen said, “There is a strong possibility that whoever crashed the car was trying to get a lift from elsewhere – possibly a taxi or passers-by – and we are working to identify those people if necessary.

“We appeal to anyone who has information who has witnessed suspicious activity or people in the area, or has information or dashcam footage related to this incident, to contact 101, using the reference numbers 101 160 16/10/21 and 98 17/10 / to turn to the detectives. 21. ”
