Five vehicles crashed on a residential street in Essex after a morning of heavy rain and high winds.

Essex Police responded to a call this morning (October 31) at around 10 a.m. to reports of a collision with five vehicles on Van Diemans Road in Chelmsford.

Meanwhile, another car appears to have a badly damaged hood.

Essex Police said it was “lucky” that no one was injured after the accident on the residential street at 30 miles / h.

The Kraft added that motorists “should slow down” in heavy rain.

The crash comes after torrential rains and high winds hit much of the south of England, including Essex.

On Twitter, the Essex Police Road Police Unit wrote: “We have just completed handling a 5 vehicle RTC on Van Diemans Road in Chelmsford.

“Fortunately, nobody was seriously injured on this occasion. Please slow down in heavy rain.”

Surrey Roads Policing added to the tweet, urging road users to “drive carefully” and “pay full attention to the road”.

They wrote, “A five-car collision on a residential street should be impossible, shouldn’t it? Top speed of 30 mph, drivers paying full attention to the road ahead and driving carefully.”
