Man after car and truck accident on the A42 near Measham. seriously ill in hospital

A man is in critical condition in the hospital after a collision between two vehicles on the A42 last night.

The accident, which occurred yesterday evening (October 31st) shortly after 7 p.m., occurred between junction 11 and 12 on the westbound A42 near Measham and involved a blue Peugeot 108 and a truck.

The police have confirmed that the truck was parked in a parking lot on the side of the road at the time of the accident.

The blue Peugeot is said to have crossed two lanes of the A42 before it came to a stop near the median.

The car is believed to have landed on the roof, but the police have not confirmed this detail.

Fire teams from Ashby and Burton were deployed to the scene, while a technical rescue team from the Fire Department’s Southern Station was also deployed to assist with the response.

The Peugeot driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to Coventry and Warwickshire University Hospitals, where he remains in critical condition.

Leicestershire Police officers now want to speak to anyone who witnessed the clash.

“If someone was out on this street last night with a video recorder installed in their vehicles, they will be asked to review the footage and contact you if they have recorded anything that might help with any inquiries,” said a police spokesman.
