Several police vehicles drove around a car after a car chase in Wirral.

A chase was granted and several police vehicles and a helicopter followed the car, which passed the red light and drove too fast.

A video captured by an eyewitness shows a line of police cars stopped near the Croft Retail and Leisure Park in Bromborough.

At the red light, according to the woman, everything “stood still” until “everything turned blue like Christmas lights”.

She said, “Four or five police vehicles, very smooth performance from the Merseyside Police Department. If I say that myself.

“I wouldn’t have known they were there and the car in question had no chance of even trying to get away.

“Must have been bad whatever they did wrong when two police cars joined them after that.”

A Merseyside police spokesman said the allegedly stolen car collided with a wall on Greendale Road in Port Sunlight and a man was arrested nearby after trying to get away.

Police believe the car was stolen from the Netherton area last month.

A 24-year-old man from Birkenhead was arrested on suspicion of stealing a motor vehicle; dangerous driving; and not stop, and he remains in custody.

Investigations are ongoing to identify other inmates.
