A crash on the M1 this afternoon caused the car on the M1 to catch fire.
Emergency services have been made aware of reports of a two car accident on the south side between Exit 23, Loughborough and Exit 22, Coalville.
One of the cars caught fire after the collision, a Leicestershire Fire Department spokesman said.
Because of the incident, lane 3 of the lane was closed, which led to long delays.
On arrival, the fire and rescue workers took care of two injured people who were described by a spokesman as “wounded on foot”.
The traffic on the north side of the motorway also came to a standstill due to “spectators” according to the Inrix traffic office.
Traffic jams on the road increased as the incident was resolved, resulting in queues of up to six kilometers and delays of around 45 minutes during evening rush hour.
