Alpine will offer LMDh hypercar entry in two cars in the WEC from 2024

The entry of the Groupe Renault brand is constructed around an Oreca chassis and powered by an Alpine engine developed at its base in Viry-Chatillon.

It has been involved in the WEC hypercar category for four years from 2024 and will use the global LMDh platform together with rival manufacturers Acura, Audi, BMW, Cadillac and Porsche.

Other manufacturers – including Ferrari, Peugeot and Toyota – have opted for the LMH rule set, in which all these entries should compete against each other at the 24 Hours of the WEC and Le Mans in the coming years.

Before the new car goes into operation in 2024, Alpine and Signatech want to remain involved in the WEC and announce their plans “in due time”.

Since Alpine’s return to endurance racing in 2013 with Signatech’s partnership, the brand has won titles in the European Le Mans Series and achieved several LMP2 championship wins in the WEC and three victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. That year he reached a podium in the hypercar category with his “grandfather” LMP1 car at Le Mans.

“The Alpine Endurance program underscores the brand’s commitment and ambition in motorsport,” said Laurent Rossi, CEO of Alpine. “As a Formula 1 and Endurance participant, Alpine will be one of the few brands that are present in both of the key disciplines of motorsport.

“We will make optimal use of Formula 1 and endurance through technical and technological synergies in order to gain an advantage over prestigious competitors.”

Philippe Sinault, Team Principal of Signatech Alpine, added: “Signatech is very proud to have been selected by Alpine for his arrival at LMDh. This is the culmination of a joint project that began eight years ago.

“More than ever, we have great ambitions and look forward to taking our cooperation into another dimension. After 32 years of motorsport career, I can hardly wait to challenge the world’s most renowned manufacturers with Alpine, a brand that conveys passion and lives only for victory. “

ACO President and Le Mans boss Pierre Fillon said: “Another prestigious brand has joined the hypercar class, the new premier class of endurance racing.

“There have been so many announcements over the past year and the latest from Alpine is great news for our discipline.

“The hypercar regulations are a success and we are very pleased that such a high-quality field is taking shape.”
