Judd Day and Jade Wass are currently sleeping in their Ford Focus after an apartment dispute while their two children are looked after by relatives. The couple claim they were forced to wash in supermarket sinks and even in the ocean, adding that they survive on Greggs sandwiches or fast food takeaways.
They had moved to Birmingham to be closer to Judd’s family but after problems with their apartment they decided to return to their hometown of Middlesbrough in September thinking they would be relocated.
However, she has since left complications with the local council and seen the festive season in her engine.
Jade, 26, told The Sun, “We’ll most likely be here for Christmas, but we don’t want to.
“We asked the council to take us to an emergency shelter, which they did for two nights before they left us.
“It’s embarrassing to see people come over and look at us and laugh at us. They should put themselves in our shoes and see how they feel,” she added.
Judd added, “We bought body sprays and shampoos and went to Morrisons to wash up.
“We wear socks for three days because we don’t have a washing machine. If they gave us a house and we had our unemployment benefits, we could do some real shopping.”
Judd said the couple spent about 15 to 20 pounds a day on gasoline, to buy food and to keep the engine running at night.

According to the couple, people have suggested staying in a B&B, but Judd and Jade say they could only afford it for 10 days.
“What would we do after that?” asked Judd.
The couple claim police knocked on their windows and told them to keep driving their car, but local residents supported them.
And because her two children live with relatives at the age of three and six, they only see their parents every 14 days.
Jade said it was “terrible” not to see her children and that their breakup had made their dire situation “worse”.
She said, “I see her about every two weeks and it absolutely kills me.”
Jade added that Judd is unable to work because of his mental health problems and difficulties.
“We’re getting 500 pounds a month and Judd is getting 348 pounds more. I can’t work because I have severe back problems after a serious car accident, so I can’t medically.” She said.
