BMW rammed police car after it was chased by officers in two counties

Police arrested a BMW driver after a two-county chase in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The blue BMW failed to stop for Leicestershire Police and was heading into Northamptonshire, Northants Police said.

An Armed Response Vehicle (ARV) and officers from the Northants Road Crime Team found the offending vehicle near Towcester attempting to ram one of the police vehicles.

According to officials, the vehicle was stopped and the driver arrested.

Northants Police ARV tweeted at 4am: “BMW failed to stop for Leicestershire Police and entered Northants. ARV and @Northants_RCT locate it near Towcester attempting to reverse ram a police vehicle. Vehicle stopped safely and driver arrested.”

People are being reminded to dial 999 in an emergency or to contact the police on the non-emergency 101 number.
