A car breaks through the wall of the Hythe Library
A library in Hampshire was severely damaged after a car hit the wall.
Books and magazines were sent through the incident at the Hythe Library on Sunday morning – with pictures showing bricks, chairs and rubble scattered on the floor.
The library is expected to be closed for at least a week (Hardley Fire Station)
A tweet from the nearby Hardley Fire Station said that two people in the car – an elderly couple – escaped from the vehicle without major injuries, but found themselves in the library, which is closed on Sundays.
Firefighters used a winch to stabilize the car and “tunneled through” to reach the couple and get them to safety.
According to Hampshire Libraries, the library is expected to be closed for at least a week.
The incident is not considered suspicious.
