A car was only inches away from being hit by a train after the driver ignored a red light at a level crossing.
The driver of the car ignored the red light warning at the level crossing and drove right in front of an oncoming train in the Lake District.
Network Rail has posted footage of the driver on the tracks of the Windermere branch line in Burneside to warn other drivers.

The car was so close to the impact that the camera angle only covers the roof as it drives blindly straight ahead over the tracks.
Fortunately, the driver made it just in time without colliding with the northern service.
The incident, which occurred shortly after 9 a.m. on July 29, was described by railway executives as one of the next near misses they have ever seen.
Simon Shipperd, Level Crossing Manager at Network Rail: “This driver not only put himself in serious danger, but also the train driver and the passengers.
