Car “repeated” into the wall of the Bury house by bats with baseball bats reversed in “shocking” attack

A car was left in a house in Bury after men armed with “baseball bats” attacked the property.

Windows were smashed in the house on Manchester Road, Hollins, after the attackers rammed a car into a parked car that drove through the front of the property.

The incident, which occurred on Monday morning (October 4) around 1:00 am, the residents “startled, shocked and confused”, it is said.

Investigators at the crime scene were in the house until noon Monday to assess the damage, but police say no arrests have been made.

“Two or three boys came out in black hoodies and white masks,” said Uzma Raja, who lives nearby.

“The boys had baseball bats.

“They smashed the windows 20 or 30 times. You screamed and screamed. “

Ms. Raja said she also saw the “black car” the men had left behind repeatedly “backwards” into the parked Mercedes while driving.

However, Ms. Raja said the incident was the first of its kind in her three years in Bury.

The 38-year-old added: “It’s nice [here]. It’s never happened before, it’s the first time.

“I’m a little worried. The children are worried. “

The neighbors also agree that the area is “beautiful”.

A woman who wanted to remain anonymous said, “It’s a beautiful area. There are many families, some retirees. “

She added that last night’s incident “shocked” the community.

“I’m scared, shocked and confused. It’s never happened before, ”the resident told the Manchester Evening News.

“We’re all in shock.”

Avis O’Loughlin has lived in her home on Manchester Road for 37 years.

“I’ve seen it all,” she said, “I think if you live on the main street it’s pretty consistent. You have traffic noise. “

When asked about “rowdy kids” raised by another neighbor, she said she had never seen anything like it.

She explained, “It can be, but we don’t see it. When you are on the property, you are aware of this. “

A GMP spokesman said: “This morning (Monday 4th October 2021) at around 12:40 p.m. the police were called to report a disturbance on Manchester Road in Bury.

“Research has shown that a group of gun-owned offenders caused property damage before ramming a car they were driving into a parked car in the driveway, causing the parked car to collide with the front of a property.

“Nobody was injured, but there was considerable damage to property.

“The group left before the police arrived.

“There is a scene and the two cars were recovered for a forensic examination.

“So far there have been no arrests, but the investigation is ongoing.”
