Car smashes the wall of the Southampton library, leaving two people locked up

TWO people were trapped in a library after breaking their car through a library wall in Southampton.

Books and bricks flew across the floor, managing to escape without serious injury after plowing into the wall at Hythe Library just after 11:15 a.m. but then being caught.

The fire brigade had to forcibly enter the building to rescue the occupants of the car.

The Hampshire Constabulary said the crash was not being treated as a suspect and no arrests had been made.

The library is expected to be closed for at least a week.
