Car stolen from London found in Eccles in April

A car stolen from London in April and used in a robbery was seized by Eccles police.

A traffic PCSO discovered the suspicious vehicle on Friday evening and checks revealed that the Ford was a stolen vehicle with cloned license plates.

The car was then confiscated for a forensic examination.

Greater Manchester Police Department wrote on Twitter early Sunday morning: “The #TrafficPCSO patrol was patrolling @GMPSalford in the Eccles area on Friday night.

“Found a vehicle that piqued his curiosity. Checks revealed that it was a stolen car on cloned license plates.

“Stolen from London in April and used in a robbery.

In 2020, 74,769 vehicles were reported to the DVLA as stolen, with Ford Fiestas being the most commonly used car model.

According to the Office of National Statistics, 72 percent of stolen vehicles were never returned to their owners last year.
