A toddler was killed after it was learned that he was knocked down on a zebra crossing in front of an elementary school.
The girl, believed to be three years old, was hit by a car near The Olive Elementary School in Birmingham, West Mids.
The young person was with her family when a tragedy occurred shortly before 2.40 p.m. (DO) today.
The car, a silver Ford Galaxy, could not stop at the scene of the accident.
A 24-year-old man was later arrested and brought up for questioning on suspicion of being killed by dangerous driving.
Police were seen recovering a Ford Galaxy nearby.
Ambulance services, including the Midlands Air Ambulance, landed on Reddings Lane, where the boy was found seriously injured.

She died shortly after arriving at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “The girl was reportedly using a crosswalk when she was hit by a silver Ford Galaxy just before 2:40 pm today.
“The driver of the car did not stop at the intersection, but officers quickly took testimony and testimony and arrested a 24-year-old man for suspecting death from dangerous driving after he found his vehicle in the area.

Acting Inspector Paul Hughes of the West Midlands Police Major Collision Investigation Unit said: “The tragic death of such a young child is deeply sad. Our thoughts are with the girl’s family at this incredibly sad time.
“Our priority is to support her family and to ensure that a thorough investigation is carried out.
“We understand the shock and concern this may have caused in the community and ask people not to speculate about the circumstances.
“I am very keen to hear from anyone who has been in or in the immediate area who witnessed the collision or heard anything that might aid our investigation.”
Paramedics took the girl to Birmingham Children’s Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after she arrived.

A section of Reddings Lane in the Tyseley neighborhood remains cordoned off while police forensics look for clues.

A West Midland Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed, “We received a call at 2:38 pm this afternoon to report a collision between a car and a pedestrian.
“We sent two ambulances, a paramedic, the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford.
“On arrival we discovered a patient, a child. They were treated for serious injuries and were taken to the Birmingham Children’s Hospital in a rural ambulance.”
