Death of two models in a car accident in Kochi | Timeline | Kerala news

Kochi: The examination of the last hours of two models who had started their last trip in a car accident on the Ernakulam bypass on the early 1st. Hotelier Roy Joseph Vayalat was arrested with five employees on Wednesday evening when it became clear they had destroyed digital evidence showing the presence of two women, Ansy Kabeer and Anjana Shajan, and other guests at a DJ party.

Kabeer and Anjana Shajan were on their way to Thrissur after a late night party at the No 18 Hotel in Fort Kochi when their car crashed into the median of the Ernakulam bypass on the Vyttila-Edappally route in Chakkaraparambu in early November 1. During the Models were killed instantly, her boyfriend Mohammad Ashiq died a few days later.

Here is the timeline of the events hours before the accident and subsequent developments.

  • November 1 – Miss South India and Miss Kerala 2019 Ansy Kabeer (25) and Miss Kerala 2019 runner-up Anjana Shajan (26) die after their car hit a tree near Chakkaraparambu in Palarivattom in Ernakulam District. KA Mohammed Ashiq from Vemballur in Thrissur and Abdul Rahman from Mala in Thrissur suffer serious injuries. Abdul Rahman had been behind the wheel.
  • November 7 – Ashiq, 25, son of Vemballur-born Ashraf, dies, the death toll in the accident is now three.
  • November 8 – Police arrest Abdul Rahman, who was behind the wheel at the time of the accident. He had been in a drunk state while driving the car.
  • November 13th – The footage shows a person who reached the scene of the accident shortly after the accident, got out of the car, checked it and left immediately. Two cars followed the accident car from Fort Kochi to Chakkaraparambu. These cars were involved in a car chase from Kundannoor, according to CCTV images.
  • November 14th – The CCTV images of a DJ party at the No 18 Hotel in Fort Kochi, which the victims attended, were destroyed by the staff at the behest of the owner, police said. The police questioned Saiju Thankachan from Ernakulam, who was driving one of these cars.
  • November 16 – Roy Joseph Vayalat, the owner of No 18, is interrogated by police for 11 hours and released. Roy gave the police one of the two digital video recorders (DVR) that contained the hotel’s CCTV images.
  • November 17 – Roy and five hotel workers arrested.
