A fire truck was sent to Asda im Jewel around noon on July 17 after a panicked owner mistakenly trapped his dog in the car on one of the hottest days of the year.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that the owner needed help after accidentally leaving his keys in the car and unable to get back in.
They told Edinburgh Live that the car’s engine was still running when the fire department arrived and that a window had to be smashed to get the dog and keys.
An eyewitness said, “It was right on Asda’s doorstep.
