Garry Jacobson back behind the wheel on the Supercars return

After a three-month break, Garry Jacobson will get back behind the wheel of his ZB Commodore this weekend for the return of the Supercars Championship in 2021.

The Greater Shepparton product has spent the hiatus honing its craft and preparing for the championship resumption.

Jacobson last drove in July when the championship was visiting Townsville.

This weekend will be a home race for the Team Sydney driver, the race going to Sydney Motorsport Park.

And fans can expect a thrilling, action-packed fiesta of racing, with the Sydney SuperNight topped by the headline race on Saturday night on lap eight.

Jacobson, who is currently 22nd in the Supercars Championship 2021, will start this weekend with a lot of confidence in his back.

The 2016 Super2 champion announced to Supercars.com earlier this month that he had spent his time honing his skills for the second half of the campaign.

“I was just working on my driving while we had the opportunity to catch up with the mid-season break,” he said.

“I had a conversation with Paul Morris after the second race in Townsville and said, ‘I think I can improve my driving style. Can you help me?’

“It’s been a really good trip for me and I’m excited to see what I can do when I hit the track in Sydney.”

Now in his third year in the Supercars fraternity, Jacobson has surpassed his more experienced teammate Fabian Coulthard.

Jacobson overtook Coulthard – a twelve-time race winner – in the last two outings in Townsville.

On the championship ladder, he lies in front of his teammate.

On Friday, the action begins with practice, followed by Race 20 on Saturday evening and Races 21 and 22 on Sunday.

• You can see Jacobson in action on Seven Network, Foxtel, or Kayo.
