The Eastern India Motoring Group (EIMG) organized a roadshow with vintage cars and two-wheelers in Calcutta on Sunday, showcasing the city’s automotive heritage.

The rally, Goodbye 2021 Breakfast Meet, was canceled by City Hall at 9 a.m. and concluded with breakfast in the Eco Park Golf Course Café after a brief stop on Red Road. The cars were also on display for an hour.

Around 60 vintage cars and two-wheelers took part in the roadshow.

EIMG founding president Shrivardhan Kanoria said: “Today we saw one of the larger participations in the classic car and classic car roadshow. The EIMG is known for hosting blockbuster events like this one year from now. “

Founded in 2020 by Kanoria (a collector and restorer of vintage cars), EIMG is a group of like-minded owners of historic vehicles from East India, mainly Calcutta. The Fiat Users Group of Calcutta (FUCC) is also part of the EIMG.

With the establishment of the EIMG, the maintenance of vintage cars as a hobby in Calcutta was supported by shows and events organized by the group.

The group provided a platform for their members to keep their vehicles in good condition by attending their shows.

It created a platform for its around 150 members to interact with each other via a WhatsApp group and thus build a community of like-minded people.

Since its inception, EIMG has organized six major events that inspire the classic car movement in Calcutta.

Kanoria said, “It is my responsibility to this brotherhood that inspires me to work for them. I am very pleased to be doing my part to save this national heritage. “

His shiny 1931 Chevrolet Big 6 was also part of the fleet.
