Groom thinking his wife was having an affair closes the overflow on their wedding night

Two people were shot dead on a spill in Louisiana on Saturday night after a male attendant left his vehicle and opened fire. The groom, who was still wearing his wedding suit, reportedly thought his new bride was having an affair with his boyfriend.

The incident occurred at Bonnet Carré Spillway in the parish of St. John the Baptist following a wedding in nearby Kenner, Louisiana. The alleged gunman has been identified as 30-year-old Devin Jones, who was arrested by the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office for attempted first degree murder, heavy second degree battery, and double serious damage to property.

Jones was reportedly driving a car with his new bride and male friend when they got stuck in traffic due to a multi-vehicle auto accident. Allegedly there was an argument in which Jones accused his new wife of having an affair with the male passenger. The fight escalated when Jones got out of the car and allegedly shot the male friend. He also shot another car stuck in a traffic jam, injuring a driver’s hand, according to a police report.

Jones’ wife fled the car and sought help from first responders helping the victims of the clash. She was allowed to enter an ambulance, but officials said that Jones started shaking shortly afterwards and hit the vehicle to get her out.

Social media was soon filled with messages from people claiming to have witnessed the violence.

“I’m in this mess right now. Yeah, that’s real !!! There was a bad accident where the bridge was closed and while the accident was going on, someone got out of his vehicle and started to approach other vehicles approach and shoot innocent people sitting in their cars in a traffic jam! ” Brian Chappell Jr. wrote on Facebook at 1:39 a.m. on Sunday. “We are currently stuck in a traffic jam while the police are trying to locate the active shooter.

Jones’ male friend and the other victim in the shooting were flown from the scene and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment for their gunshot wounds.

“In the craziness of things I’ve seen in 33 years [of work]That’ll be top 10, maybe top 5, “St. John Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre told the press on Sunday.” I’m just glad no one was killed. “

Tregre said the investigation was still ongoing, but added that alcohol was seen as a factor in the incident.
