The child was carrying car keys and was found by a woman who said she was “sick to the pit” which could have happened to him.
Police have confirmed that they received a concerned phone call early in the morning from a member of the public trying to find the boy – who was in possession of a set of car keys.
Nikola James later posted a message on social media saying she had visited a friend and was going home, but instead of taking her normal route, she chose to drive down St. Levan Road, reports Plymouth Live.
Shouting that she “believes that everything in life happens for a reason,” Nikola wrote that she normally wouldn’t drive on this road, but she was glad she met the six-year-old on the road.
She wrote calling the police who “have him safe and warm now,” adding, “The possibilities of what could have happened make me sick to the pit of my stomach.

A police spokesman added that the boy was believed to be able to leave his address through the front door, but not before finding a set of car keys that he was in possession of.
