A lane was closed after a car left the M4 motorway and caught fire.
On the west carriageway in Wiltshire between junction 16 and junction 17, one lane was closed to traffic for almost two hours.
The closure was first reported around 3:30 p.m., which caused traffic jams in the area.

National Highways, formerly Highways England, encourages motorists to avoid the area.
A spokesman said: “A car went off the road, broke on the roof and caught fire.
“Lane 1 (of 3) remains closed between J16 (Swindon) and J17 (Chippenham).
“All emergency services are on site.
“There is about 7 miles of traffic jam on the approach to this incident.
“Please allow additional driving time this afternoon.”
All lanes are now open and there is no evidence that anyone has been seriously injured.
